Door hardware is any item attached to a door with the designed purpose to enhance functionality, usability, durability, and/or appearance of the door. When choosing door hardware, a variety of factors must be considered including specifying and considering surface-mounted or recessed installation, materiality, weather exposure, corrosive conditions, and frequency of use. Typical types of door hardware are: locksets (locks, latches, bolts, trim, cylinder, stops), hinges, closers, panic hardware, push/pull bars and plates, kick plates, door stops/holders/bumpers, door thresholds, weatherstripping, and tracks/guides.
