Sedans are a type of passenger automobile with three separated compartments for the engine, passengers, and cargo. Sedans are understood today to be cars with closed bodies, two rows of seats, and more rear passenger headroom than would be found in a more sporty car model. It is commonly thought that sedans must also have four doors, though this is not always true between manufacturers.
