A parabolic arch is an arch in the shape of a parabola. It is a very efficient structural form, as the curve distributes the load evenly across the arch. This makes it ideal for use in bridges and other structures that need to support a lot of weight. Parabolic arches can be found in a variety of architectural styles, from Romanesque to Gothic. They are also used in modern structures, such as the Sydney Opera House.
