Ayn Rand, also known as Alice O’ Connor, was a Russian-American author known for her fictional writing and development of the philosophical system, Objectivism. Ayn Rand became known for her work, The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged, and The Virtue of Selfishness. Ayn Rand studied at Petrograd State University in St. Petersburg, Russia. Ayn Rand was known for advocating reason as the only way of acquiring knowledge while rejecting both faith and religion. Her main literature subject was Philosophy. Ayn Rand died on March 6, 1982 and after death received the Prometheus Award for her books Atlas Shrugged and for Anthem.
