Description
Description

The Balloon Dog is a sculpture that embraces the recognizable form of a balloon twisted into the shape of a dog. The sculpture was created by artist, Jeff Koons and has become his most recognized piece of work. The Balloon Dog intentionally makes the form of the balloon dog a permanent item by exaggerating both its size and materiality. The Balloon Dog is created from mirror-polished stainless steel that incorporates a transparent color coating, allowing viewers to stand next to it and see their distorted reflection. There were 5 color versions of the Balloon Dog and were created in 1993 as part of his “Celebration” series.
