Description

Beach Spider Lily (Hymenocallis littoralis) is a perennial flowering plant admired for its dramatic, exotic blooms and graceful foliage. Its striking flowers feature long, slender white petals radiating from a central, frilled cup-like structure, creating a spider-like appearance that gives the plant its common name. The blossoms are often fragrant, especially in the evening, and rise above a base of glossy, strap-shaped green leaves.

Native to coastal regions of Central and South America, it naturally thrives in sandy or marshy soils near shorelines, where it benefits from warm, humid conditions. Also called Peruvian daffodil or sea daffodil in some regions, it is valued both for ornamental landscaping and for its cultural significance in tropical gardens. Blooming in cycles throughout the warm season, it attracts pollinators and adds a touch of elegance to waterside plantings. The Beach Spider Lily’s combination of bold form, delicate detail, and coastal adaptability makes it a standout perennial choice.
