The Betel Palm (Areca catechu) also known as the Areca Nut Palm, Indian Nut, or Pinang Palm is an evergreen medium-sized palm species that belongs to the Arecaceae family. The Betel Palm is native to the Philippines. The Betel Palm has long pinnate leaves with various leaflets and jagged tips. The Betel Palm grows white sweet-scented flowers. The Betel Palm is known for the Areca Nut it produces that is now commercialized. The Areca nut is an important seed crop that is brown with an oval shape and is flattened at one end. The Betel Palm is not in danger of extinction.
