Brie Larson is an American actress. She began her acting career at a young age, appearing in television show Raising Dad and comedy films Hoot (2006), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), and 21 Jump Street (2012). She subsequently moved into more serious filmmaking, and in 2015 won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as kidnapping victim Joy Newsome in Room. She marked her foray into directing with the release of independent comedy, Unicorn Store. She is outspoken on social and political issues and continually advocates for gender equality.
