Charizard, known in Japan as Lizardon, is a flame type of Pokémon and was introduced in the first generation of games. Other flame Pokémon are Flareon, Moltres, and Infernape. Charizard is the final evolution of Charmander with Charmeloen being the evolution between the two. Charizard resembles a large, orange dragon with a flame on his tail. Charizard has also played a prominent role in the anime series and Pokémon movies; throughout the anime, he is most commonly associated with Ash Ketchum, the series protagonist. Charizard has appeared in every Super Smash Bros. game, but did not become a playable character until the third game.
