The Chilean Wine Palm (Jubaea spectabilis) also referenced as the Chile Cocopalm or Palma Chilena is a palm tree that belongs to the Arecaceae family. The Chilean Wine Palm is native to southwestern South America specifically to the region of central Chile. The Chilean Wine Palm is known for having one of the thickest trunks of any palm species. Its crown is typically wider than its height and its leaves give the crown a V-shape. The Chilean Wine Palm tree grows flowers that then produce spherical edible fruits that turn yellow when mature. The Chilean Wine Palm is vulnerable to extinction.
