J. R. R. Tolkien was an English writer and philologist who is regarded as the father of modern fantasy literature as well as high fantasy. His most recognizable works include The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, and Unfinished Tales. J. R. R. Tolkien received his education from Exeter College in Oxford, England. J. R. R. Tolkien’s writing dived into the genres of fantasy, mythopoeia, high fantasy, and literary criticism. In 1972, J. R. R. Tolkien was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. J. R. R. Tolkien is J. R. R. Tolkien died on September 2, 1973 at the age of 81.
