James Joyce, also known as James Augustine Aloysius Joyce, was an author and literary critic credited for making valuable contributions to the modernist avant-garde movement. His most famous works include Ulysses, Dubliners, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, and Finnegans Wake. James Joyce attended University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. Ulysses became known for presenting a stream of consciousness, parody, and jokes to present its characters. It has also been considered a demonstration of the entire Modernist movement. James Joyce has impacted other writers including Samuel Beckett, Flan O’Brien, and David Lodge. James Joyce died on January 13, 1941 at the age of 58.
