James Potter is the father of Harry Potter. Born into a wizarding family, he attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the age of eleven. He meets Harry’s mother there, Lily, as well as his friends Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. Severus Snape, Harry’s Potions teacher, knew Harry’s parents at school and described James as an arrogant and lazy boy. James played in the Quidditch team, as did later Harry. James was part of the first Order of the Phoenix, the faction set up against Voldemort’s rising power. He and Lily were murdered by Voldemort in the town of Godric’s Hollow, whilst they were protecting Harry.
