Jane Austen was an English author known for creating the 6 major novels that interpreted life on the British landed gentry at the end of the 18th century. Her most famous works include Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey, and Persuasion. Jane Austen attended Reading Abbey Girl’s School. As an author, Jane Austen uses irony, realism, humor, and social commentary within her work. Jane Austen did not earn any literary awards during her lifetime, but her writing has inspired many other essays, anthologies, films, and productions. Jane Austen died on July 18, 1817 at the age of 41.
