Description
Description

The Livingstone Daisy (Cleretum bellidiforme) is a vibrant groundcover flower celebrated for its dazzling, jewel-like blooms that open in sunlight and close at night. Each flower features a central disk surrounded by narrow, radiating petals in brilliant shades of pink, red, purple, orange, or white, often with shimmering, iridescent tones. Also called ice plant or Bokbaaivygie, it is native to South Africa’s Cape region, where it carpets sandy or rocky soils in colorful drifts.

Its fleshy, succulent-like leaves store moisture, giving it resilience in dry environments. The plant’s ability to create dense mats of foliage and flowers makes it ideal for covering open ground, edging paths, or adding bursts of seasonal color to low plantings. Blooming en masse, it draws pollinators and creates a striking tapestry effect in gardens and naturalized areas. Livingstone Daisy is cherished for its intense color palette, sun-responsive flowers, and adaptability to warm, sunny habitats.
