Morpheus is a character in the Matrix film franchise. Morpheus was freed from the Matrix as a child and has since lived in Zion, joining the resistance and becoming the captain of the Nebuchadnezzar. He is a calm, measured leader who commands respect by all those who meet him. He is driven by the thought of ending the machine war and liberating the people of Zion. He finds Neo and saves him from the Matrix because he believes him to be The One. Morpheus is portrayed by actor Laurence Fishburne.
