Description
Description

If you are looking for a colorful shrimp for your aquarium, then seek the Peacock Mantis Shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus) of the family Odontodactylidae beneath the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They are also called Clown Mantis Shrimp, Harlequin Mantis Shrimp, Rainbow Mantis Shrimp, and Painted Mantis Shrimp and hold the record of the fastest punch among living creatures. They possess very complex eyes and are active hunters with males being more colorful than females. The name comes from the brilliant colors of green, oranges, and blue on the male’s shells, though both sexes have orange legs and a leopard-like spot on their carapace.
