Description
Description

The small to medium-size nature of the Pygmy Date Palm (Phoenix roebelenii) makes it a good ornamental plant. It is most common in southeast Asia in places like northern Laos and Vietnam and southwestern China. It can be called miniature date palm, dwarf date palm, and robellini palm. The slow-growing plant has small, yellowish flowers, small, thin-fleshed edible fruits, and slightly drooping grey-green leaves. The plant is dioecious, and its name comes from its short profile. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and a subtropical climate. The fine leaves and attractive trunk make it suitable indoors.
