Ridley Scott is an English filmmaker and advertiser, who garnered success in both industries, with hit films, such as Blade Runner, and hit ads, such as the 1984 ad for Apple Macintosh. Scott got his start in filmmaking while in college studying art at the bequest of his father. After college, Scott worked for the BBC as a trainee set designer and director before breaking into advertising with his brother. Scott’s breakthrough as a filmmaker came with his creation of Alien in 1972. Ridley Scott is known to feature strong female characters, have movies that are centered on adventure, and films that are beautiful, as he sketched most of his own storyboards.
