His best-known work includes James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Matilda. Roald Dahl’s writing has sold more than 250 million copies throughout the world. His stories are characterized by their unexpected endings as some of his stories end with dark comic moods. Roald Dahl was awarded the 1983 World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement and the Children’s Author of the Year by British Book Awards in 1990. Roald Dahl died November 23, 1990 at the age of 74.
