Description
Description

Treasure Flower (Gazania rigens) is a perennial flowering plant celebrated for its bold, sun-loving blooms and vibrant color range. Its daisy-like flowers feature a central golden disk surrounded by petals in brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, or pink, often marked with striking bands or contrasting eye patterns near the base. The blooms rise slightly above low rosettes of narrow, lance-shaped green leaves, which may be silver-hued or softly hairy underneath, adding texture and drought tolerance.

Native to southern Africa, Gazania rigens thrives in sandy soils, coastal areas, and open grasslands, where it captures full sun to fuel its daytime-only blooms. Also known as coastal gazania, it is valued for its extended flowering season, often lasting from spring into autumn, and its ability to attract butterflies and other pollinators. With its dazzling colors, ground-hugging habit, and resilience, the Treasure Flower brings lasting brightness and ornamental impact to gardens, borders, and sun-soaked landscapes.

Annual flowers are plants that complete their entire life cycle—from germination to seed production—within a single growing season. These species are typically found in regions with distinct seasonal changes, thriving during warm months before dying back with the arrival of cold or drought.
