His second musical role was playing Link Larkin, in the film version of the musical Hairspray. He has also appeared in Me and Orson Wells, The Paperboy, and Liberal Arts. He received acclaim for his role as serial killer Ted Bundy in the Netflix film, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. When filming, Zac Efron turned to transcendental meditation to help him deal with the difficulties of the role.
