Description
Description

Alpine Aster (Single) (Aster alpinus) is a hardy perennial flower prized for its neat form and cheerful, daisy-like blooms. Each blossom features a bright yellow central disk surrounded by narrow petals in shades of violet, lavender, pink, or occasionally white, creating a vivid contrast against its deep green foliage. The plant forms a low mound of lance-shaped leaves, from which sturdy stems emerge to hold the flowers above the foliage.

Native to alpine and subalpine regions of Europe, Asia, and North America, it thrives in meadows, rocky slopes, and other high-altitude environments. Also known simply as mountain aster, it blooms in late spring to early summer, offering an early nectar source for bees and butterflies. The single form represents the species in its natural, unaltered state, highlighting its resilience, compact growth, and seasonal color. Its ability to flourish in cool, rugged conditions makes the Alpine Aster a classic choice for rock gardens and perennial borders.
