Apple Watch Series 0 (1st Gen)

Pair of drawings of the Apple Watch Series 0 display with measured dimensions and resolution

The Apple Watch First Generation is often referred to as Series 0 and uses a single-core S1 system on chip. The smartwatch does not have a built-in GPS chip, but relies on a paired iPhone to provide location services. The ‘Taptic Engine’ provides haptic feedback when an alert or notification is received. It is equipped with a built-in heart sensor that uses infrared and visible-light LEDs. All versions of the first-generation Apple Watch have 8 GB of storage and an operating system that lets the user store up to 2 GB of music and 75 MB of photos.

The Apple Watch Series 0 is available in 38 mm and 42 mm sizes. The 38 mm watch has a height of 1.52” (38.6 mm), width of 1.31” (33.3 mm), depth of .41” (10.5 mm), and weighs 1.41 oz (40 g). The screen size is 1.337” (34 mm) diagonal with a resolution of 272 x 340 px at 326 ppi. The 42 mm watch has a height of 1.65” (42 mm), width of 1.41” (35.9 mm), depth of .41” (10.5 mm), and weighs 1.76 oz (50 g). The screen size is 1.566” (40 mm) diagonal with a resolution of 312 x 390 px at 326 ppi.
