Auston Matthews

Set of illustrations of Auston Matthews in various ice hockey poses dimensioned with overall height

While other athletes count their field success in talent and skills, America’s Auston Matthews athletic background may also have a lot in his ice hockey successes. In his childhood, he played baseball and hockey before settling for professional ice hockey. He plays the center position in the National Hockey League (NHL) and also as a captain for Toronto Maple Leafs. Before being drafted in the NHL, he played for the ZSC Lions and took home the Swiss Cup. Auston also won the Calder Memorial Trophy and Bob Johnson Award for his outstanding performance in the NHL. While representing the US in international tournaments, he won two gold medals in International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World U18 Championship and World U-17 Hockey Challenge.
