Description
Description

Bavarian Masterwort (Astrantia bavarica) is a perennial flower celebrated for its intricate, starburst-like blooms and refined presence in the garden. Each flower consists of a central cluster of tiny florets, surrounded by a ring of papery, petal-like bracts in shades of white to soft pink, often delicately veined with green or rose tones. The blooms are carried on slender stems above mounds of deeply lobed, glossy green leaves, adding texture and depth to plantings.

Native to the alpine meadows and woodland edges of Bavaria and surrounding regions in Central Europe, it thrives in cooler, moist environments. Sometimes simply called Bavarian astrantia, it is prized for its long-lasting blooms, which attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Its airy, ethereal flowers are equally suited to fresh arrangements and dried displays. Combining natural elegance, fine detail, and ecological value, Bavarian Masterwort is a distinctive perennial that brings both delicacy and structure to garden compositions.
