Bob Ross was an American painter, art instructor, and television host, known for hosting the tv show ‘The Joy of Painting’ that aired from 1983 to 1994. In his show he addressed his viewers directly and typically wore jeans and a button-down shirt. Bob Ross painted three versions of every painting that was featured on his show. The first painting was painted before taping, the second was created while filming, and the third was a detailed version for his instructional books. Bob Ross became known for the phrases that he repeated while painting. He later become known as an internet presence. Bob Ross passed away in 1995 at the age of 52.
