Description
Description

The Borzoi, a sleek hound, possesses a sleek, silky coat, a dignified demeanor, and a build similar to a Greyhound. Similar to the Greyhound, Borzoi are capable of racing at great speeds, such as 35 to 40 miles per hour. Historically, the Borzoi rose to prominence during the Romanov rule of Russia as the Russian Wolfhound. The Borzoi’s role in the aristocracy was that of a hunting dog during magnificent hunts on the grounds. When the revolution occurred in Russia and the entire Romanov family was killed, the Borzoi dogs they had bred were also killed. If it were not for worldwide fans, the Borzoi breed may have gone extinct.
