Description
Description

The Briard is an ancient herding dog breed from France. During World War I the Briard was use by the French army to search for wounded soldiers, as a messenger, and as a sentry. Today Briards have roles in police, military, search-and-rescue work, and as companion dogs. The Briard is a medium-sized, rugged, and agile dog with a harsh coat and double dewclaws. Their color variations can be tawny, black, grey, or blue, but there are variations in each color. They are known to be very loyal and protective, but they can be aloof with strangers.
