The Catahoula Leopard Dog is recognized by its varied coat colors, rectangular-shaped body, and large head with dropped ears. The dog is muscular, having a thick muscular neck and a long tail that curves towards the tip. It is native to Louisiana, United States, with a short or medium-sized coat of red merle, brindle, or blue merle, giving him a leopard-like look. His eye color may be green, blue, brown, or amber. As a working dog, he can be used for hunting, treeing, or baying. This comes from his endurance and agility. The Catahoula Leopard Dog is territorial, independent, and protective. Hence, can easily fit into a family unit.
