Description
Description

Clover Mites (Bryobia praetiosa) are plant-feeding mites not harmful to humans and are all female, hence reproduce parthenogenetically. Adults are reddish-brown while youngsters are bright red. Their body is long and oval-shaped with a pair of long pointing legs resembling antennae. Look for them in lawns and well-fertilized grass in any climatic conditions except Antarctica. Their abdomen spots scales of feather-like plates. Other than being a nuisance in that when crushed leaves red spots, Clover Mites are a good indicator of a much bigger problem when they invade the house since they are sensitive to temperature changes on the ground.
