Coco Chanel, Gabrielle Bonheur ‘Coco’ Chanel, was born on August 19, 1883 and is a French fashion designer and businesswoman. She is the founder of the famous fashion brand, Chanel. She is given credit for removing the corset silhouette after World War I, and providing a casual feminine style for women. Coco Chanel developed designs beyond clothing and also created jewelry, handbags, and fragrances. Chanel was placed in Time Magazine’s list of 100 most influential people of the 20th century. She designed the double-c logo that is synonymous of the Chanel brand. Coco Chanel died on January 10, 1971 at the age of 87.
