Dooryard Dock (Rumex longifolius) is a robust, leafy plant recognized for its long, lance-shaped green leaves and tall, unbranched flowering stalks topped with clusters of small, reddish-brown flowers. Also known as Narrow-leaved Dock or Yard Dock, it belongs to the buckwheat family and is native to Europe and parts of Asia, but has spread widely as an invasive species in North America and other temperate regions.

Found in disturbed soils, roadsides, pastures, and dooryards, it is a colonizing shrubby weed that establishes quickly and forms dense stands that crowd out native vegetation. It reproduces through both seeds and a persistent root system, making it difficult to control. Dooryard Dock has a long history of traditional use for medicinal and culinary purposes, although its invasiveness often outweighs its usefulness in many regions. Its tall, leafy form and aggressive spread mark it as a classic example of a resilient, weedy colonizer.
