The English Setter is a medium-sized dog in the setter group. It was bred for a mix of endurance and athleticism, and is used to hunt for game like quail, pheasant and grouse. They are active, strong-willed, and mischievous, and as the English Setter is an energetic, people-oriented dog, they are well suited to families as well as hunters. They are distinguished for their coats, white with various colored flecks; some combinations are white with black flecks, white with orange flecks, white with liver flecks, and white with orange flecks and a lighter nose.
