The German Cockroach (Blattella germanica) is a small cockroach that varies from tan to almost black. They have two dark, roughly parallel streaks on the pronotum, from behind the head to the base of the wings. While German Cockroaches have wings, they can barely fly, but they may glide if disturbed. They are widely considered domestic pests. As omnivorous scavengers, they are attracted to meats, starches, sugars, and fatty foods. If there is a shortage of food, they will eat household items like soap, glue, and toothpaste, and in famine conditions, they turn cannibalistic.
