Hailing from Japan, the Hokkaido is a dog breed that shows great strength and endurance. It is most commonly a working dog but can also excel well as a companion dog. The dog is also called the Ainu dog, Seta, and Ainu-ken. He is medium-sized and strongly built, having small eyes and small triangular upright ears, while the tail curls up towards its back. The coat is usually long and stiff with red, black, white, and wolf grey colors. The Hokkaido is intelligent and a problem solver, capable of performing any tasks with ease. It has a wider chest, relatively large neck, with eyes having a rising triangular outline.
