Description
Description

Italian Aster (Single) (Aster amellus) is a perennial flowering plant valued for its late-season blooms and dependable garden presence. Its daisy-like flowers feature a golden-yellow central disk surrounded by slender petals in shades of violet to lavender, sometimes appearing in softer pink or white forms. The blooms are carried on sturdy, upright stems clad in narrow, lance-shaped green leaves, giving the plant a clean, upright habit.

Native to Europe and parts of western Asia, it naturally occurs in dry, sunny meadows, rocky slopes, and open woodland edges. Also called Michaelmas daisy in some regions, it is known for flowering into autumn, providing vital nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators when few other plants remain in bloom. In its single form, Aster amellus retains the unaltered charm of the wild species, offering a simple yet striking burst of color and a reliable structural element in perennial gardens and naturalistic plantings.
