John R. Velazquez is a Puerto Rican horse jockey involved in thoroughbred horse racing and known for his cool riding manner. John R. Velazquez won his first race in 1990 at the age of 19. He has over 6,000 career wins including 15 Breeders’ Cups, and 5 Triple Crown races. John R. Velazquez has been part of the top 10 jockeys of the National earning list for 15 consecutive seasons and was the leading money-earning jockey in 2014. John R. Velazquez is currently a chairman in the board of the Jockeys’ Guild and is also on the board of the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.
