Katie Ledecky is the only female American competitive swimmer who owns most medals and holds the record in 400, 800, and 1500-meter freestyles, 500, 1000, and 1650-yard freestyle events. As a freestyle swimmer, Katie possesses fifteen World Championship gold medals, five Olympic gold medals, and fourteen medals from Pan Pacific Championships. Because of these swimming successes, she has been recognized five times as the World's Female Swimmer of the Year, ones as Sportswoman of the Year, and three times as United States Olympic Committee Female Athlete of the Year. Katie also holds most gold medals in the World Aquatic Championships.
