Kitchen Cabinetry Clearances

Description
Description

Kitchen cabinetry clearances are crucial for creating a functional and comfortable kitchen space. Proper clearances ensure there is sufficient room for users to move freely, perform tasks efficiently, and access storage without obstruction. They help in maintaining an ergonomic workflow by reducing unnecessary strain while using the kitchen. Adequate clearances also facilitate safe appliance operation and prevent congestion, particularly in kitchens with multiple users. Furthermore, well-planned cabinetry clearances contribute to a visually appealing kitchen by providing a balanced, uncluttered layout, enhancing both the practicality and aesthetics of the space.

Dimensions & Sizes
Dimensions & Sizes

A total clearance of 60”-66” (152-168 cm) can comfortably provide adequate space for both a circulation zone and workzone for using cabinetry, while 48” (122 cm) is recommended for a minimum clearance without a full circulation zone. Separately, cabinetry workzones require a minimum of 36” (91 cm) and circulation zones require between 24”-30” (61-76 cm). Kitchen countertops and cabinets are typically sized at 24” (61 cm) deep.
