The Lapponian Herder is endemic to Finland. The medium-sized dog has a double coat of medium length and loves to herd or guard. It is also called the Lapsk Vallhund, Lapinporokoira, or Lapp Reindeer Dog. The coat color may be black, brown, or dark grey. Only pricked ears are allowed while the tail is medium, low set, and profusely covered with hair. The dog is medium built, wonderful, rounded, versatile, and capable of solving different problems. Thus, can fit in any environment. Apart from herding, the Lapponian Herder is also seen in dog sports. It shows a keen expression coming from the dark-colored, oval-shaped eyes.
