Martin Seamus Mcfly or Marty McFly is a fictional and central character of the Back to the Future trilogy. Portrayed by Michael J. Fox, Marty Mcfly was listed as the 12th Greatest Movie Character of All Time by Empire Magazine in 2019. He is characterized as a well-intentioned, although at times prideful, high school student and resident of Hill Valley, California. He embarks on adventures with his friend and eccentric counterpart, Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown, through time travel to different moments of history within their town. In the cinematic universe of the Back to the Future movies, Marty McFly is recognized as the first human to travel to the past and through time in general.
