Emmett 'Doc' Brown is the fictional scientist that is featured in the film series, Back to the Future, and is also the inventor of the time machine. Doc Brown is also a physicist and blacksmith. He produced the time machine from a 1981 DeLorean sports car. Doc Brown’s appearance and mannerisms are influenced by Leopold Stokowski and Albert Einstein and is characterized by his loud personality, and facial expressions. Nicolaus Copernicus, Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Edison are among his favorite scientists and theorists. One of his most famous lines is, “Great Scott!”
