Description
Description

Moss Phlox (Phlox subulata) is a perennial groundcover flower admired for its dense, carpet-like growth and profusion of small, five-petaled blooms in shades of pink, purple, white, or blue. Its needle-like evergreen leaves form a lush mat that hugs the ground year-round, providing texture even outside its spring flowering season. Sometimes called creeping phlox or moss pink, it is native to eastern and central North America, thriving in rocky slopes, open woodlands, and sunny garden borders.

When in full bloom, the flowers create a vibrant blanket that cascades over walls, embankments, or garden edges. This species is valued for its resilience, ability to suppress weeds, and capacity to stabilize soil on slopes. It attracts pollinators such as butterflies and bees, adding both ecological and ornamental value. Moss Phlox’s combination of year-round greenery, seasonal color, and adaptability makes it a beloved choice for low-maintenance, high-impact groundcover plantings.
