Narendra Modi is the current Prime Minister of India. He grew up in a poor family poor in northern India, entered politics as a young adult and quickly rose through the ranks of various political parties, becoming Prime Minister in 2014. He is known for his widespread health and sanitation initiatives, economic investment programs, and his demonetization policy which aimed to get rid of the circulation of untaxed money. His Nationalist agenda led to the proposal of a citizenship law in 2020 seen by many as discriminating against the Muslim population of India. Modi is seen as a sartorial icon; his oft-worn vests are now known as Modi jackets.
