The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is a gun dog bred for hunting. Its name references its origin in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, Canada. They are named after their ability to entice or lure waterfowl within gunshot range, called tolling. Physically the breed is athletic, muscular, balanced and powerful. They are physically and mentally active, and they are often mistaken for small Golden Retrievers. The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is known to be intelligent, curious, alert, outgoing, and having ample energy. They are also affectionate, eager to please, and good with children, making them good family dogs.
