There are several characteristics that the Portuguese Podengo possesses. It is hardy and intelligent besides being agile and making fine companions. It is also called the Portuguese Warren Hound or Portuguese Warren Hound, with origins from Portugal. As scent bred, it is for hunting deer, boars, and small game. The Portuguese Podengo is divided into three groups: small, medium, and large, with either short and smooth coats or longer and wired coats.
