Salvador Dalí is one of the most important European artists of the early 20th century. He was born in Spain in 1903 and trained in Fine Arts in Madrid. He is known for his Surrealist paintings, often featuring striking and unnerving imagery. One of his most famous works is entitled The Persistence of Memory and features several melting clocks in a desert-like barren landscape. In 1936, Dalí created the Lobster Telephone, which is now considered one of the most famous pieces of Surrealist art. Dalí was good friends with Picasso.
