Description
Description

Siberian Bugloss (Brunnera macrophylla) is a hardy herbaceous perennial admired as a border filler for its lush foliage and delicate spring flowers. Its heart-shaped leaves, often large and textured, form dense clumps that create a bold backdrop in shaded or partially shaded gardens. Many cultivated forms display silver or variegated patterns across the leaves, adding decorative interest long after the blooms have faded.

In early spring, it sends up slender stems topped with airy clusters of tiny, bright blue flowers that resemble forget-me-nots, giving it the nickname “false forget-me-not.” Native to woodland edges and riverbanks of Eastern Europe and western Asia, it thrives in moist, cool habitats. Valued for its durability and visual appeal, Siberian Bugloss is both ornamental and functional, softening borders while providing seasonal bursts of color. Its combination of striking foliage and charming flowers makes it a staple in naturalistic, cottage, and formal planting schemes alike.
