They have a soft undercoat and a straight topcoat, and the shorter hair on the head covers the forehead and eyes which form a beard. The ears are well feathered and are erect. Color variations include fawn, blue, dark or light gray, blonde, and black. As a housedog the Skye Terrier should not be kept outdoors, but they need a daily outing to stay in shape.
